Lena has always been under the control of her elusive father, a gang leader known only as Spider. Desperate to protect her younger brothers from a life of strict orders and violence, Lena refuses his wishes, and her latest assignment. Trevor, her partner in a school project, suddenly finds himself twisted into Lena''s life, and the complexities of her family and its secrets. Once together, the pair find themselves unable, and unwilling, to separate, but Lena''s father has other ideas. Lena is forced to disappear, and, over years and in spite of dangerous forces, the two of them must find a way to make a life amongst the shadows.
